About JMB Ecological Offsets
JMB Ecological Offsets has been preserving ecological habitats and developers’ interests since 2011, when the parent company started converting some of its existing land assets into wetland mitigation banks. The Company’s Environmental Strategic Business Unit (SBU), as it was known at the time, went to market in Florida as Southern States Land & Timber (another JMB company) and simply as JMB Companies, Inc. in all other states. In 2025, with demand for our mitigation credit sales at an all-time high, the Company decided to rebrand these services as JMB Ecological Offsets nationwide, allowing the business to stand on its own and eliminate confusion with the other ventures of JMB Companies, Inc.
The family lineage of JMB Ecological Offsets parent company, JMB Companies, Inc., has roots in Louisiana dating back to 1831. The namesake, Jules Martial Burguières Sr., founded The J.M. Burguières Co., Ltd. in 1877. It was originally comprised of three sugarcane farms and has prospered through the years as a land acquisition and holding company. JMB Companies, Inc. specializes in natural resource consulting, mitigation, and conservation banking, as well as mineral interests, surface leasing, agriculture, and investment through our Family Office, which encompasses real estate and business acquisitions.
